Founding Advancement Director
Carrie A. Mummert serves as the Founding Advancement Director for Cristo Rey Charleston High School, bringing over three decades of experience in Catholic mission advancement, donor stewardship, and strategic fundraising leadership. With a deep personal commitment to her faith, Carrie has dedicated her career to strengthening Catholic institutions and building relationships that support transformational giving. Carrie’s role at Cristo Rey represents a continuation of her vocation—partnering faith with action to create opportunities for underserved students through a transformative, Catholic, college-preparatory education. As the founding leader of the school’s advancement efforts, she is focused on building a mission-driven culture of philanthropy that will sustain Cristo Rey Charleston’s vision for generations.
Prior to joining Cristo Rey Charleston, Carrie served the Diocese of Charleston for more than 12 years in senior development roles, most recently as Director of Operations & Donor Management. During her tenure, she led a $60 million capital campaign, established donor societies, implemented parish stewardship initiatives, and helped grow the Annual Appeal to record levels. Her work has directly supported the spiritual and educational growth of diocesan ministries, parishes, and schools across South Carolina.
Her prior leadership roles include Director of Development at Bishop England High School, where she launched their inaugural Day of Giving and annual fund; and executive-level positions in healthcare and nonprofit organizations such as U.S. Preventive Medicine, the March of Dimes, American Heart Association, and American Cancer Society. In each role, she has demonstrated a consistent ability to build lasting donor relationships, manage large-scale campaigns, and lead mission-driven teams to exceed ambitious fundraising goals.
A graduate of Penn State University, Carrie is active in the International Catholic Stewardship Council and serves on the board of Birthright of Charleston. She is a parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and resides in West Ashley with her husband, Duane and their coonhound rescue dog Cooper. Carrie’s work is guided by a strong belief in the power of Catholic education to form both hearts and minds—and to change lives through faith, service, and opportunity. She has seen firsthand the value of Catholic education because all three of her grown children attended Catholic schools in the Charleston area.
